Series 7 Test / license

I'm considering a career change. It's not really a change so much as adding finance to my current bag of tricks. I am aware that a company must sponsor you. I would be working for American Express as an entry level financial advisor.

Unlike my sister who just aced it, I do not have a finance degree.

So, has anyone taken it? What was your background prior to doing so?

I haven't taken it, but I know one person who has. He had a degree in something business-related. Said he had to study fairly intensly for it. I haven't talked to that guy in years, and I don't have his contact information. So, can't help much there.

I know that a lot of stock brokers (if not all?) are mandated to pass the series 7. Not sure how far you'll get, but you could call up a firm and ask to speak to someone about it.
