Gauging Interest: 1991 Firebird Formula Ram Air

Nothing for certain yet, but I am thinking about selling her. She is my baby so I'm hesitant to do so, but I'm thinking about exploring LS1 territory and possibly getting a Firehawk or something of the sort, so a current idea I'm toying with is selling the 91 and trading in my 95.

Remember, this item is not yet for sale, but I am wondering if there would be any interest in this car, and what you would pay for it. Make an offer, who knows, I might jump on it.... (anything's for sale if the price is right, right?)

Anyway, here's the lowdown:

1991 Pontiac Firebird Formula

Automatic (700r4)

305 TPI

Red exterior, Black interior

Hardtop

Power locks, windows, mirrors, trunk release, cruise control, A/C (needs charged)

Hawks Ram-Air Hood (have hood-pins that I will include if wanted, never installed them)

85-90 style wraparound aero spoiler (worn, would need some more TLC [sanding/painting/etc]. Spoiler is not mounted on the car and there are no holes in the deck, so you can run it without a spoiler if you so-choose, or spoiler of your choice.)

Shaved side molding

!cat (open Y currently)

Grant steering wheel

Accel injectors, less than 1,000 miles on them

New fuel pump, less than 1,000 miles on it

New fuel filter, less than 1,000 miles on it

New ICM, less than 1,000 miles on it

New transmission mount, less than 1,000 miles on it

Less than 1,000 miles since heater core change

Less than 1,000 miles on plugs, wires, and distributor cap

Less than 1,000 miles on valve cover gaskets

If I recall, the power brake booster has less than 1,000 miles on it also

CD player from 1995 Firebird Formula (not hooked up currently)

Good rubber

Interior gauge bezel and window switch trim painted body color

The car has 184,000 miles on the body, ~90k miles on the tranny and uncertain of the mileage on the motor. The car was salvaged and rebuilt at one point in time but now has a clean title. The body is pretty straight on it. The interior is in nice condition except for the plastic panels that go around the sail panels/speaker area. Great carpet. The entire car has been painted in my garage via rattle-can (was sitting in primer but I needed to put some paint on it in case it got wet so that it wouldn't rust) except for the spoiler, which is not currently on the car. One of the headlight assemblies was broken, so I removed it to try and repair. It may or may not hold up, may need to replace it. The window motors are actually hooked up to a separate switch so that you can control the height of the headlights.

I recently swapped the tranny but the shift linkage cable broke, so I have not been able to test the new tranny and, as such, the cable would need to be replaced or the car would need towed. The car smells like it runs rich also; probably partially due to the lack of cat but also might need to check into O2 sensors, etc. Also, the passenger side door lock is missing, and the adhesive on the rear view mirror wore off so it needs stuck back on.

Before the tranny swap, I did drive the car to Indianapolis and back (a few hundred miles out) and she held up just fine. This would make a great cheap-fix project car, drag car, or put a little work into it and daily drive it.

I also have the original power bulge hood that came on the car, which I could include for an extra 100 dollars, or I could put on the power bulge hood in place of the ram air hood and subtract some money from the price of the car. I also have a used Flowmaster cat-back and high-flow cat that I could include for a slight price increase as well.

Would anyone be interested in the car? What would you offer?

Here are some pictures:

NOTE: SINCE THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN, I HAVE REMOVED THE 15" T/A WHEELS AND INSTALLED 16" 91-92 FORMULA WHEELS

I thought the same thing as nurkvinny before I read his post.

If you want any money out of this car, your best bet would be to install a crate 350, macco paint job and fix all the problems. ex: find new interior pieces, fix linkage cable(to show that it can run)...
