frankthetank
So i just picked up a suzuki ATV in a trade. The battery was low so my dumb ass brother decided to try to jump it off my Explorer while i was gone. ANyways, now there's obviously no power, no clicking, nothing. He says he put the negative cable on the truck for one second before a giant spark and he immediately took it off. what all could be damaged? I'm assuming the battery is fried, but should i pick up any additional parts on my trip to iron pony later?
kylek
check the main fuse. you probably blew it. it is not recommended to jump a motorcycle/atv off of a car/truck. if you do do not start the car. hwat happens is you overload the atv and it could fry the regulator and battery. after getting new battery and getting running check cahrging rate at battery posts. it should be 12.5 @ idle and got to 13.5 when rev'd to 4,000 or so rpm's. frankthetank
I checked the main fuse and it's blown definately. negative battery terminal looks fried. I'm going to replace the battery and fuse tomorrow and see what happens. I'll update when I get everything put back in
