88lx5oh
ok so i got a 88 accord dx 2.0l carb car jsut replaced the alternator cause it was eating up belts, new belt, and new power steering belt. fixed a coolant leak (bad hose) and the battery is new as well. car will not charge. and i have a high idle. i checked into a idle air control valve, but i didnt even see one listed on autozones comps. so what why cant the thing idle wher eit should i mean its idleing at like 3500 rpm i heard maybe low coolant ior sumthing but that dont make no sense. TurboRust
i would suspect a vacuum leak as far as the high idle. you can take some carb/choke cleaner or brake clean and spray it around the engine bay looking for leaks. lemme know and I might be able to give you a hand on my day off. nurkvinny
I was thinking down the vacuum leak course, also. Those cars have what, 30 freakin vacuum lines under the hood? I'd start the biggest and closest ones to the intake. That is, if you have also checked the screws in the carb.
