My bike has been sitting in Denver since November when i got out here. I came down this week to put fresh gass in and ride, but the battery was pretty damn drained and died after trying to get the bike started. put a 12v jumper pack on it and the bike started right up, so i threw a charger on it overnight.

is it normal for a batter to just kinda go dead after sitting a few months?

You may also want to check the water level in the battery, most bike batteries are the old maintenance required type. If it's low just go to the grocery store and buy some distilled water. Using the distilled water fill the cells up to the required level.
