I've used MythTV also, but ultimately went with a Windows app called SageTV (not free, but no ongoing costs). I love the flexibility of running PVR software on a PC, for much the same reasons as Kahamri. You also having some cool options like running scaling or other post-processing software to output a really kickass image for your HDTV. And don't forget DVI output in that case!
