If you think this is interesting, look up home use fuel cells. These are real, and will come into widespread use in the near future. They run on the technology I work with every day. But to turn about 1/4 cup of water into HHO, it burns through 6 D batteries. This is a viable option, if and only if you utilize nuclear power to provide the juice.
