JaSSon Posted July 9, 2006 Report Share Posted July 9, 2006 I was lubing my chain last night, when I noticed that my rear wheel wasn't as round as it should have been. When I looked closer, I could see that the lip of the rim was all bent to hell. I haven't hit anything so I have to assume it was bent going over a bump/pothole in the road. The tire pressure is at 32.5psi. It's a bit below Kawi's specs, but it looks like it's holding pressure. I didn't notice any vibrations or bouncing on the way home either. I'm comtemplating riding it to work and grabbing a piece of delrin and a brass hammer and hitting it until it looks round again. grease monkey Posted July 10, 2006 Report Share Posted July 10, 2006 you can't repair an alloy wheel like a steel wheel, well, sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time the alloy will crack. if you want to repair it youre self, make sure that you're not relying on it to get you home, and have a backup plan cause 9 outta 10 times it will crack and then youre fucked. good luck!!! You can bend a pop can back into shape, but it will never be as strong. On the lip like that, being alloy, the repair costs will be too much to still have a "repaired" wheel.
