Sweet, I bent a rim.

I was lubing my chain last night, when I noticed that my rear wheel wasn't as round as it should have been. When I looked closer, I could see that the lip of the rim was all bent to hell. I haven't hit anything so I have to assume it was bent going over a bump/pothole in the road. The tire pressure is at 32.5psi. It's a bit below Kawi's specs, but it looks like it's holding pressure. I didn't notice any vibrations or bouncing on the way home either. I'm comtemplating riding it to work and grabbing a piece of delrin and a brass hammer and hitting it until it looks round again. Ideas?

Wheel Medic up by the fair grounds should be able to fix it. They did one of my rims that got cracked. I think they charged me $110 or the fix. You have to remove the tire for them before taking it in.

you could end up cracking it if you try that. I would just get an extra rim off ebay. You could probbly find one for cheaper than it costs to get repaired.

you can't repair an alloy wheel like a steel wheel, well, sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time the alloy will crack. if you want to repair it youre self, make sure that you're not relying on it to get you home, and have a backup plan cause 9 outta 10 times it will crack and then youre fucked. good luck!!!

I don't know how aggresively you ride your bike, but I do not think self-repairing a rim on an bike is the best of ideas.

I would hate to see something happen to the tire while your are riding and get seriously injured over $100 or so.

My $0.02. :)

Jason I have an account at Wheel medic if you want to try and get it repaired. I would have to call and get a price but it usually is around 80 or so for then to fix and finish.

call me if you want.

QUICK, buy this one and make $150 profit!

If it was my bike I would probably opt for a new (used) one as well. You can bend a pop can back into shape, but it will never be as strong. On the lip like that, being alloy, the repair costs will be too much to still have a "repaired" wheel.

Get another wheel, sell yours as-is for $50, and put some more air in your tire.
