i called a junk yard to get a front "subframe" for my car, meaning everythign in front of the firewall.

when callign junkyards, they think im talkign about crossmembers(k-member), or "inner strutures" and tellign me that the front subframe is bolt in.

i say no, i need the whole piece under the fenders...shocktowers, front frame sections that are all pieced together with stamped steel and welded together and to the firewall/bellypan.

now this is where the ultra tech comes in. there is a yard in cincinatti that says he has it, and if it is a welded piece, he will sell it to me for cheap.

however, he says that his computer has a different listing for 99-2000 and 2001-2004.

is this true?

i thought they were the same and barely even changed from 95+

if they are different, what are the differences?

thats what i was lookign to do at first, but i can only find the 05+ online. you have to almost petition to ford and prove that youre a race team. i would liek to keep it the 03-04 body in white if i could since i already have the majority of what i need and wouldnt have to buy an axel and other things like that that are different on 05+

and yes, the wreck was that bad. bent over about a foot right infront of the shock towers, and after takign some parts off, found the driveres upper rail to be slightly bent upwards between some welds. the motor mounts flexed enough that the oil filter smacked the k-member, and the exhaust left a dent on the firewall lump where the steering shaft exits.

no leaks from anywhere. a couple of the s/c idlers bent, and the other stuff got shoved back far enough to shred the first belt, but everythign else is pretty untouched.

all of my damage was in front of the shock towers, and the engine sits behind that....the only thing that i mentioned that was messed up behind the towers, was where the upper drivers frame rail slightly slightly moved up when the part in front of the shock tower got moved over to the left about a foot. i didnt hit dead on, i hit at an angle and was still spinning.(a median) i barely tapped the back, but still enough to sand through the bumper cover and graze about a half inch of the taillight on the passenger side. ive turned the engine over when i was tryign to take the lower pulley off(bought a metco), and it turns over fine. oil seems clean, no leaks from anywhere. i have the valve covers off painting them ford blue....engine seems clean.

i guess if someone can help me out that knows what to look for.......i dont have all the tools necessary.....i would think a dial indicator to see if the crank has any runout(?) what else can i do to check these things?

sounds like you need and frame straightener, but i have seen guys weld in new strut towers, and fix stuff like that...

I take it they totaled it!

find a fox body and cram it in there!

that was plan b, but i prefer the 79-86 cars.....i had lots of trouble finding good candidates.

the insurance didnt total it. nationwide screwed me. i had gap insurance, and im supposed to get a printed estimate to send them so they can pay the car off since it IS totaled, but i need to have an estimate evaluating the damage from the wreck. not taking into consideration that i have already torn the car down.

im goign to email cdc again to see if there are any bodies in white available.
