nurkvinny
Is anyone else playing for free on pokerstars.net? I have been up over $10,000 (fake money) every night I have played, against real people. This is getting stupid-tempting to buy in for a real $100. Up $19,902 tonight. http://www.nurkvinny.com/images/CR/20900.jpg
morabu
not bad for a new guy i've been there about 2years and stopped playing after i amassed arount 400,000 in play money i started giving it away, but do yourself a favor and don't buy-in, once you play real money all those nice cards stop falling into your hand quite as easily.......trust me
Mensan
Agreed, and the play is drastically different. I bought into Party Poker and was up for awhile, but then bad things happened. I would not recommend it.

iwishiwascool
I have a friend who makes a living on it. It is definitely true that money games are completely different from when people dont really have anything to lose.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've played in monthly games, casinos, and ran a 75-person tourny. I'm thinking it's worth a couple hundred to find out how good these on-liners are. SpaceGhost
Free play is way different, people play trash hands and call everything. It is not this way on the $35 tables. If you play a $100 table you will be very suprised. BTW the nick name for the site is "Riverstars". You can see it comming almost every time. Be careful. Some of the quirks on the site are this, if you win a table, keep playing if you are a good player you will get good cards and win. If you win on a set of kings early, most likely if you are delt a king after that hand you will see a king on the flop almost every time. I used to play on there a lot. I won some money but it is so time consuming. Also be careful of people playing in teams against you. For the higher tables this happens, not so much on the lower tables. All it takes is 3 friends on a six man table to cheat on the phone and take your $100 and split it along with the other two players. Don't get cocky, and pay attention. thorne
I've yet to try the cash tables. I am getting on the freetables in about 20 lnxgod420

No lie, I have had the same concerns since about six hours into that site. Seriously, way too much paint, way too many possible straights/flushes, and way too many suck-outs happen there for it not to be rigged in some way. My thoughts, every time, eventually end up like this, "PokerStars fucking cheats - it's like they make all this action every hand to keep people interested in the game." So, same thing happens in the cash games then too?
thorne
That sucks we need a legit poker site:( I mean pokerstars is the one that fucking everyone endorses and shit. but I've noticed way to many (OMG hands) just don't happen when i am playing with freinds. someone should read there eula and see if it talks about randomization or if they add drama . im sure they would have it in the fine print somewere. I am not up for reading it right now
SpaceGhost
Yes it happens on the cash tables also. You are so correct, they do that to keep people interested. I also believe that when you are new, you get really good cards. My first event I won a 45 man tournament with a 1 dollar buy in. I was getting such good cards there was no way I could lose as long as I was an expierenced player and knew some stuff. SO I won. Since then I have entered a few 45 man tables and it is so hard to win. I have placed, but not won. After you play a while and play for money you notice the new players with gold buttons and notice the cards they are being delt. its unreal! It hooks you. I have emptied my Firepay account a couple of times and walked away with more than I have ever put in the site. Like I said before it is time consuming even if you play the turbo blind tables. Those are the tables I have liked. 6 man tables or 9 man turbo blind tables for whatever buy in you wish. Just know the smaller amount you are playing with the more someone is likely to bluff or not know how to play and when to fold. At the higher tables you can almost never bluff because those guys are good. You will be saying all the time on the lower tables, why would you call that bet? Why with low pair would you call that bet? It happens all the time. People play stupid.

thorne
ok I lied started some reserch. I know its not pokerstars but here are some card stats from another poker room http://www.pokerroom.com/main/page/games/cardStats http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/features/security/ BUT lets take the other side I've seen some dumb shit myself here are some links to other who feel that use ACTION focused decks http://www.pocketfives.com/40ED5554-E9AF-4475-9E1F-E7624DBB08E8.aspx http://www.thepokerforum.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000206;p=1 Use your own judgement but i dont think that pokerstars MAY use ACTION based decks. you dont see many blind steel hands or check cehck cehck
SpaceGhost
What happens too often there is this scenario: I am delt Pocket 8s, I raise and everyone drops but the big bling person who calls to see the flop. He has 9 3 The flop is 894 SO now I have trip 8s and he has top pair. I check, he bets, I call. The turn is a 9 now he has trip 9's but I now have a full house 8's over 9's. I go all in, he calls with top trips of course. The river is a 4 so now he has a full house 9's over 4's. He wins with a better full house. There are too many swings in a single hand. IMO There always seems to be that card that the two players share that comes up that makes both players hands better which increases the action. It's that 9 on the turn that came up which is crazy! Truthfully, If I flop 4 to the flush, I am 85% sure my running suit will hit on the river. Therefore, I will "donate" all of my chips chasing to hit my flush. I am up a decent amount a paradise. Tilley, you are correct about about the site making the action. That is what they do. They want big pots, so they get to drag a larger percentage.
