Ultimate FD

The rotary is not a successful drag racing engine. And the FD's original design was not for drag racing. The LS1 swap into the FD is a great set up for drag racing though. Your basic LS1 swap will run you around $7000, and maybe put you in the 11's. You can build a rotary that gets into the 11's for around than $5000. If you blow the rotary, you're looking at $500 to $1800 in parts (no damage to the turbo setup) and you're back on the road. Time for yourself or labor for others is up to you.

Carl's car is a great example of an FD. He beat the crap out out of the engine for 5 years with no problems. Now, after all that; he came up with a vacume issue. It's a pain to deal with, but it just a matter of finding the hose that's cracked. Not really a big deal. Not exspensive either.

Didn't mean to rant. But, those are easy number not too many people talk about.

i think that ruins the idea of an FD. I am not against a piston engine swap into it just making it a all out drag car. There are easier to work with platforms for an all out drag car. Now if your dream is to have a drag race FD, well then OK.
