Guest Hal
Ok Greg, I spent the day working on not hating this car. I removed the lower setup and reinstalled it to make sure everything was on there right, and I still have the problem with the belt walking. You mentioned the idler as the problem, and I want to make sure that's what it is. Now I need to figure out if a) the idler needs to come closer to the bracket b) the idler needs to be further from the bracket c) the crank pulley needs to be closer to or further from the crank hub. Here is the bolt that was sticking out that is now fixed. This should've straightened out the bracket. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f277/punkhott712/bolt.jpg Here is a shot from under the car of the pulley. The green is where we should see pulley, instead that is the belt overlapping the edge of the pulley. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f277/punkhott712/lowlower.jpg Here in the red is another view (from the top) ov the belt overlap. In the green we see the idler pulley and how far off the belt is from where it should be. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f277/punkhott712/highlower.jpg Thanks for any help. Guest powers
try to visual all of the belts on the car to make sure they are straight. I know that is not much help but really that is how it works. You line them up and put the belt on. After you have the belt on you start it up and look at how the belt is tracking. From there you make your adjustments to see what is out of place. The only reason Jason and I didn't fool with the lower was you mentioned that the upper bolt on the idler was either stripped out or wouldn't go in any more, and I didn't want to the be the one to break it off in a 400 dollar aluminum cover that I would have to remove ALOT of shit to remove fix and reinstall. It could be the lower not being on all the way. It is hard to tell with out looking at it.

Guest Hal
Yea the bolt is a pain, I did get that fixed though. I'll probably just keep working on it tomorrow and see what I can do. From what it looks like after staring blankly at it today I think the crank pulley just isn't close enough to the crank hub. edit: just thinking, it seems like the entire lower unit is a little further out than it should be. It seems to me that is I shave some stuff and move the idler and crank pulley in a little bit, it should be ok.
