oil level

Dude, screw measuring. Drop plug and filter and let drain for a few minutes. Put plug back on. Rub finger tip with oil around filter gasket, tighten on. Pour oil in and watch it rise in the glass between the marks. Start bike, make sure oil light goes off quickly, if not stop it. Let sit for a few minutes. Check gauge again and fill between the lines...all is good. Ofcourse this is all done while the bike is on a rear and front stand, right? :beating:

If you're iffy about it, then undo your filter and let some leak out.

so what your saying is alittle bit over wont hurt a thing

LOL, you just want me to sum it up huh?

I personally don't know for sure, but I honestly would take the 1minute and undo the filter a bit and let some oil come out to bring it back down. I never tested a bike with too much oil. But as oil pressure builds I wouldn't think it would be too good having too much. Just let some out really fast like I said brother. Can't hurt you can it? Take the time to show that busa a little extra love man. :)

I personally would NOT run a motor with too much oil. It can lather up and start to foam if there is too much. The extra oil most likely came from your oil cooler lines and oil cooler. Everyone always forgets about those lines and cooler. Good work on fixing it. Better safe than sorry

I"m taking it this is on a hayabusa? Did you change both oil and filter? Did you check the level before or after starting it up?

not to be a complete dick but are you sure you're checking it right?

I hope so. Changing oil without filter is like taking a shower and putting your dirty crusty 'ol draws back on after. :nono::eek:

i used to run my 954RR 1/2 qt or more over for wheelies. when the bike is stright up and down youll oil starve, with a little extra oil everyting is oooootay.

of corse the safer route would have been the oil pickup relocation kit but ehh..
