Speaking of guns

I have been interested in getting a 9mm as of late. I am relatively new to Columbus and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some good prices, or even a nice used gun. I'm not really look for something crazy nice or expensive, this is more for home safety. I was thinking H&K, Sig Sauger, or Springfield. Does anyone have any advice?

I'd say that a stop at Vance's would be beneficial. Thing I have found is that used guns if well maintained are worth almost as much as new ones on sale. Right now at Vance's shooter's supply, they have some pistol sales. Go to their website and click on flyers. That will get you the PDF file and you can see what they have. Typically, the best deals are there...

Check what the cheapest prices are for stuff:

http://www.cdnninvestments.com/

Most of the used and new firearms are in the downloadable catalog:

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/cdnn/CDNN2008-6.pdf

Then go find them at the Bill Goodman gunshow in Dayton Hara Arena (or any of his other shows in Ohio):

Next Dayton show is Nov 23-24 and Dec 13-14.

Ok, I noticed that catalog now says to CALL for pricing on handguns now. It didn't used to be that way. I usually look for 60% of the retail price (MSRP). If it's a hot item and everyone wants one, maybe 80-85% of retail price (MSRP). Easier to figure out what the lowest price might be.

Sig= Expensive, but worth it

Glock 17- Great gun, very reliable, simple, can hold 17+1 9mm, everywhere ($500)

Springfield XD- Very nice gun, not too expensive (I actually just picked up a Sub compact .40 for $419 at Buckeye Outdoors)

If you are looking for something for home I would seriously check out Kimber 1911's (.45) Vances has a nice black one for $650.
