73 240z. runs,drives, very little rust. lots of pics

73 240z. started life as an automatic, blue with white interior. sometime in 1995 this car was traded in at a lot in KY. it sat indoors for 5 years before the owner of the lot swapped a 82 280zx 2.8L motor with a 77 5 speed in it.

the 77 trans has the best ratios of all the nissan trannys.

 

this car runs and drives very well. even with crappy paint, everyone talks to me about it and comment on how clean it is.

 

i was going to do all the metal and body work before i sold it, but i need the space.

i removed everything from the engine bay(except motor), sanded, repainted and reassembled. so now the engine bay is a metallic blue very similar to the original blue, and the car is still silver(repainted red then silver at somepoint).

 

while everything was out of the engine bay i rewired several parts of the harness that has been hacked up over the years. now everything works.(several things did not, or just were not there)

 

the engine bay has no rust. the battery tray has no rot anywhere. the rails are straight and rust free.

the rear of the car olny has rust under the hatch on the top deck plate. both quaters are very nice. no rust. the hatch that is on the car is junk, but i have near perfect 77 hatch for it.

 

the drivers door has a little rust on the bottom of the inside of it. easy to fix.

the pass door is in very nice shape.

 

the front fender are both very nice. the drivers side has a little of bondo at the bottom.

 

the floor boards have some rust around the drain holes and the pass side frame rail end. all are able to be patched, or just replace them with new rail and floor pans.(its only 200 for the parts)

 

the divers side rocker end is rusted away. it is the worst spot on the car. it look really bad, it is an easy fix. and even easier since i have the new metal for it. the pass side has some bondo in it, so it probably has some rust there too. but it cant be worse than the drivers side.

 

 

the interior is in ok shape. the door panels are from a 74 260. the center console is perfect. of corse the dash has some cracks in it.

the rear trim panels are all unbroken. the carpet really needs replaced, but it there.

it a has a nice old grant gt steering wheel. it also has a new urethane steering coupler

 

so far all the electrical componets work except the clock. i had to hard wire in the tach due to a short in the signal wire.

the fuel pump needs some rubber bushings installed between it and the mounting bracket. it makes a constant clicking noise. very annoying.

 

the differantial is the stock r-180, i think its a 3.7:1. the pinion bearing are worn and very loud on decel. i have a r-200 diff and axles that go with car.

 

the fuel system is all new or restored. the tank was replaced with a rust free tank. it was boiled for 2 weeks, resealed with por-15, painted and works great. no rust clogs anymore. very nice.

brand new fuel pump and regulator.

the carbs are from a 70 240. they were overhauled with new nissan jets, floats and gaskets.

i am not a carb guy. these are semi tuned and it does run very well, but it runs rich and i suck with carbs.

 

it has a motorsport auto 3-2-1 header . and it has a 2" exhaust.

while driving the exhaust does enter the cabin. this is because the car needs new weather stripping and the rusty hatch.

 

all the brake parts work and have no leaks. yes, the parking brake works too.

it has a new 77 master cylinder and booster.

it has 82 280zx wheels. the tires are old, but have decent tread and dont leak any air.

 

the heater hoses are not currently hooked up. the heater unit is still in the car, but will need new hose to the heater core.

 

there is no radio installed. there are speakers. i do have a generic cd player that comes with the car.

 

the pass front strut is blown. and the rest are weak.

 

both doors open smooth and close very easily. you dont have to slam these doors like most of the old z's. i took both doors apart and lubed everything.

the windows need new felt in the tracks, but otherwise work very nicely.

 

all of the locks are keyed to one key. do have any idea how rare that is in these cars. i think its only the 3rd one i have seen.

 

all of the glass is good.

 

it has a 72 front bumper that is unbent. it is badly tarnished, but could be painted or rechromed.

the rear bumper is the stock 73.

 

the car will come with the following parts, nice 77 hatch, r200 diff and axles,extra set of 70 carbs, new drivers side quarter panel( for rocker end), extra 82 5 speed trans.

 

i want 3000.00 for the car and all the parts. i have clean ohio title. actual miles are unknown. not valid with any other offer. only one per customer. not for sale outside of united states. no trades allowed. no v8 swaps allowed. no 16 year old dumbass kids allowed. US currency only. no checks. i will not hold the car. test drives for serious buyers. no haggling over price. if you dont want to pay 3000.00 got buy a rust bucket. thank you for reading. not responsible for spelin misstakes.
