Why go 1jz? Why not just turbo the 2j? The only difference between yours and a true gte other than the ecu and other obvious stuff is the higher compression cast pistons. It can still take 5-600 hp on the stock bottom end with a thicker head gasket. Also remember the stock 5 spd on those cars is the shatter prone w58, swapping in an r154 will make for a much stouter setup.

the main reason im not slapping a turbo on the stock 2jz is because the intake manifold is directly over the hotside of the turbo which would be bad for drifting.

i have also thought about doing a 1jz head with a 2jz creating a 1.5jz. i would gain the displacement and everything would be about the same. the w58 should hold till about 350hp. stock twins from the 1jz is rated at 280hp at the crank. im really only looking at 300 to the wheels for now but once i convert to a single turbo i will also be doing the r154 swap.

18K front springs!...you sure that's not a misprint (8K maybe?)...that's like 1005 lbs /in....I thought that I was a little on the edge running 900lb springs on the street...I bow down to you sir if you're running over 1000 lb springs on the street!

Why did you trade a nimble little miata for a tank like that? I mean since you're into drifting or whatever..

Well the Miata isn't a really great drift car, the wheelbase is way smaller than most other cars like the SC which inturn makes less spinouts.

You'd be suprised.. the ride is pretty damn good for how stiff those springs are. The car is a pretty heavy piece though, so it's not suprising the spring rates are that high.

what about the tried and true ae86?

and this ehat problem you speak of... i havent heard of it being that big of an issue. more or less an annoyence to the owner.

Andy- Soarer JZZ30 92-00 18k/10k 175mm/200mm

like my brother says they really arent that bad you also gotta remember like brain said this car is a tank. so it drive very well

the main reason why i got rid of the miata was because i wanted a big car that has the potential for good power and a great feel inside i really just got bored of the miata too.

bob- i will prolly be going through you once its time, i gotta get that thing called money its a bitch some times.

as far as the car yea i have been looking for a good SC300 for 2-3 months before i found this car. i know there was another one 5speed at some place in grove city but it was extremely ragged out!

progress on the swap is not much, just got some parts ordered but im held up mainly because because JIC. my brother is driving my daily so i dont have the ability to take a few days off and do this with out a DD car.
