99ta
I am looking to buy a truck. nothing super nice. what are peoples experiences with the dodge. I have heard bad things about the trannies in them. I would like a silveraldo but they seem to be hard to come by in my price range, locally. also, the trucks I am looking will have high miles. how do each hold up? Scotty2Hotty
Silverado. Dodge = Transmission death. But if you want cheaper, go dodge, but in the long run you'll spend more rebuilding transmissions.
kizzzzle
Personally I like Dodges. I don't know much about trucks but I have always wanted a black Ram 1500 Hemi, so bad ass.
99crb600
a dodge truck is a good truck other than the tranny that you can expect to go out around 100 or 120,000 but the motors in them dont die! but if you buy one with high miles make sure the tranny has been replaced! nurkvinny
Owned 3 Dodge half tons and 6 GM half tons. The only transmission I ever lost was in the 92 Chevy. I am a GM guy, but 02 and newer Dodge FTW.

copperhead
I think the whole dodge transmission thing is blown out of proportion, GM trannies go out quite a bit too, but that's just expected. Personally, I own a 91 Silverado, and would probably be happier with a Ram. I'd be more inclined to say go with the best deal you come across. Dr. Apex
When I worked for dodge electrical problems seemed common as well as the transmissions, I prefer the Chevy's as well.

2 Sweet
Don't the front suspension components on Dodges wear out rather quickly? I'd go for the Silverado
Guest 614Streets
Both will loose the transmissions eventually. The dodges centerlink , pitman , idler arm and ball joints wear out faster as do the hub bearings on the dodge. Both have strong engine but the gm has dexcool and intake issues. I would rate them nearly equal but would pick a GMC SIERRA. A 5.3 ext cab 4x4.
