ZOARVILLE, OH —

An autopsy performed Monday confirmed that a white male, whose badly burned body was found Sunday in Sandy Township, died of a single gunshot wound to the head, according to Tuscarawas County Sheriff Walt Wilson.

Wilson said Monday the case definitely is a homicide and that the person, whose identity remains unknown, was shot by a large caliber weapon.

The sheriff added that the body was burned where it was found Sunday morning – in a wooded area off Rt. 212, between Tusky Valley Rd. and Rt. 800.

While law enforcement personnel have few clues to work with, Wilson said they have verified that the victim was wearing black leather shoes made by Calzature Venturini of Italy and a Rumours watch.

Wilson clarified an earlier statement regarding the body being found by a Wadsworth man. He said the man had come to Tuscarawas County to visit a site where he and a friend had gone target shooting many years ago, not to visit the friend as was reported Monday.

The man “was just looking for the property,” Wilson said. He added that the man’s friend owns a property in Tuscarawas County but does not live there.

Investigators have no reason to suspect that the man who found the body had anything to do with the crime, the sheriff said.

“We’re really asking for the public’s help to identify this person,” Wilson said Monday. He urges anyone with information to contact his office at (330) 339-2000.

That story makes it sound like the shoes and watch are expensive or important for some reason. They're not. The shoes are $80 shoes and the watch is a $20 watch. FYI.
