Guest Wunna Dig Race
I am installing a system in a 04 mustang. I am putting a JVC cd player with all clarion speakers through out for highs/mids. I had a custom Fiberglass box for 2 12s made. I am using a 4 channel Visonik amp for the highs/mids and I have a 1000 watt mono class D amp for the 2 visonik 12s. I have never hooked a system up with 2 amps before. I know people here have and thought I might be able to ask here before I went to CCA. Do I need to run 2 power cables to the battery since I am running 2 amps? Do I need 2 batterys? Do I need a bigger Alt? How would you recomend I wire it up. I alredy have the Highs/mids/cd player/4 channel amp wired. I am wiring the subs/mono amp up on monday when I am off of work. I appreciate any and all help thanks
Dave1647545494
you can run one big power wire to a junction block and split it in the back I would wire it all up normal and then see if the lights dim when it hits you might need to get a cap or custom alt, but your stock stuff should cover two amps ok
Guest Wunna Dig Race
ok I have a 8 gauge kit ran on the amp now for the highs/mids and I have a 0 gauge for the mono d amp. Should I run the 0 gauge and split with the block? How much do the juncion blocks cost? were would be the cheapest place to get one?
thorne
I personally like to run junction blocks, Also think about a yellow top as that setup WILL cause dimmage. My 95 mustang and my monte both would dimm using a 600watt monoblock.
Dave1647545494
any stereo shop should have that kind of stuff I used to use columbus car audio I dunno if they are even still in business or not though
Big Steve
Yellow top will not stop the drain. Alt & yellow top with an extra bat will be a plus. Run the 0 gauge to a Dist. block and split from there. Make sure you have a SOLID ground.
Vander
I believe a distribution block costs about $40 new from Crutchfield, and can handle up to 4 amps.
KillJoy
It amazes me the amount of information folks put out there. All Post #1 left out was the Address. And to answer your question: I would run the 0-Gauge wire to a Distribution Block in the trunk. Then split it off. A 1 Farad Cap is about $20, and will help a little with some dimming of the lights. The Mono Amp is going to be the major power comsumer. KillJoy
schmuckingham
Caps are just a band aid Like said before run 0ga back from the battery and make sure you use good or multiple grounds. Then use a dist block to the amps and ground the amps well. Typically i use spare ground wire and make a grounding kit to the chassis and motor for the batt and then do the same with the amps. Dont go cheap on the connectors either they can cause major problems as well.
