HAOLE
So I am driving home tonight and the hear a funny noise coming front the drivers side front area. Kind of like an intermittent grinding sound. When I get home I look around and see nothing unusual. I take off the front tire and find the front wheel hub assembly has more than a 1/4 inch play. I assume that is the problem. Any tips on that replacement before I dig in tomorrow? Mods: Could you add in "wheel hub assembly" to the title. thanks
HAOLE
I just finished it... I would like to punch the GM engineer that thought it was a good idea to use a hub assembly instead of taper bearings.
TA In Progress
Yeah, nothing like "no maintenance" bearings. I think pretty much everything uses these anymore, even 2wd's. I especially love the ones that have the abs sensor included, which makes them even more expensive.

spankis
Hey be sure to take it out of 4wd when on dry pavement.....just a tip. My parents have an 03 and it kills me when they leave it in 4wd after a snow storm when the roads are dry. You can feel it struggling to turn . HAOLE
GM engineers must be geniuses. What are the chances they could engineer the hub assembly to fail on both sides at the same time. After I got done with the driver side I drove done to Columbus this afternoon and what do you know the other side is bad too. How in the world do they make both sides fail at the same time? Another 150.
