GonneVille
Looks like I'm gonna be in the 13s soon, so I need to look for a helmet. Looking for a full-face w/face. Must meet current NHRA rules. Any input?
SRTurbo04
as long as your not gonna run no 10 second pass there not gonna checj if its snell approved just get a basic cheapo helmet but on a bike u have to have snell approved
SpaceGhost
Iron Pony always has affordable helmets. The Icon $50 one there saved my life.
hot_wire
Iron Pony is the place to go. Don't go too cheap though. As one wise old enthusiast told me, "the helmet should be worth the value of the head that it is protecting"
CbusBusa
"the helmet should be worth the value of the head that it is protecting" I've never heard that before. Makes a lot of sense though. I'm goin after the OGK FF5 straight from Japan for about 5 bills. I hear it's the best and the lightest.

schmuckingham
Iron Pony FTW, get something comfortable and not something that looks fly
SRTurbo04
YEA go all comfy but like i said since your not riding on a bike just get a basic helmet, hell half the old guys that go to the track have a half faced, even saw a guy riding with military bomb helmet haha
SpaceGhost
I can vouch for that first hand. Yes sir you can! Thank you again! Don't go too cheap though. As one wise old enthusiast told me, "the helmet should be worth the value of the head that it is protecting" BTW if a helmet is Snell whatever approved why is another helmet better if it has the same certification? hot_wire
Hah. I really have no idea what makes a difference between helmets. I bought a $100 Snell approved helmet for autox. Shows what my head is worth.... haha
16ggst
I just use a full face bike helmet.. havent had anyone say anything.
GonneVille
Went to the Pony, got a Vega Mach 1, in black rubbercoat. Looks good, feels better, and meets Snell M2005...decent ventilation, not that that's gonna matter in a car with no wind on the helmet... The other reason for going full faced is that I probably will be getting a bike this summer. I also like hitting the kart tracks every now and then, and I HATE putting on the stupid hair-net and wearing a helmet that's been on gods only know how many shit-stinking slobs... Rhett
I use a flip up face helmet, I dont think it as safe as a full face, but I dont ride a bike.... any one know if air bags are dangerous when wearing a helmet???? I just was wondering about that.
lawnman
I would get a good helmet that is also comfortable. I have a helmet now that is brand new and it is not as comfortable as my old Snell helmet that is 10 years old. I thought I would save some money and buy a nice cheaper helmet around $150 , I will not do that again. Also if you autox anywhere they will check the rating on the helmet ! So make sure you buy the helmet that fits your plans .
GonneVille
Already got one, like I said. Vega Mach 1, very comfortable, except that I wear glasses, and it's hard getting them on and off in the helmet. But once they're on, they don't bother me at all. I do want to find a tinted shield for it though.
