FS: 1989 S5 RX7 TII - Highly Modified - Excellent Condition

It's truly a sad time for me because I'm officially putting this car up for sale. Life comes first, so I'm trying to do the right thing.

1989 Blaze Red TurboII

VIN# - JM1FC3320K0705996

I bought this car with just under 109K on the clock, and it now has just over 111K. I have owned it since 2003, and I bought it completely stock with a blown rear apex seal. Since then, I have spent countless time and effort making this into a car like no other. I don't even want to add up the receipts that I have for everything that I've done to it. I would honestly cry. I don't have the time or energy to part this car out, so I'm going to sell it as a whole. It's a clean title, and I would have to check, but I believe I'm the third owner. I bought it from an older female that babied the car. It is one of the straightest, and most clean S5's that I've seen, which is another rare trait. I would say overall body is a 8.5/10 and the interior is an almost perfect 9.5/10.

As some of you know, I cracked a front plate on the dyno a few weeks back. The car still sits in that current state with the front plate cracked. All that is need for this car to fire up and drive is a front plate, and an OEM o-ring kit, which is about $200 from mazdatrix. Chris Ludwig of Ludwig Motorsports has it currently tuned for driving and a decent tune up to 11psi (gate springs). We were getting ready to start fine tuning in boost when the plate cracked. If someone buys this car within the next 2 weeks, I'll throw in a front plate with it.

I will list the mod sheet below along with some pictures. All mods have right around 2K miles or LESS on them. I don't have the greatest pictures, but they are good enough to give you an idea.

Price, as is, right now is $10,500. I'm basically selling everything for less than what I have in parts ALONE in the car. So you are getting a rare S5 TII in excellent condition for free. With that being said, If this car does not sell soon, after I get settled into my new place over the next couple of weeks, I will take it off the market and perform the rebuild and get it back to where it needs to be. The price will then go up significantly, so if you want the deal of a lifetime, act fast. Trust me on this one, my loss is your total gain right now. I'm not moving on the price. I'm located in Lebanon, OH 45036.

I'm not looking for trades, only cash.

Here is a dyno sheet from last year on a Mustang "Man's" Dyno:

Decent Tune (still rich in the middle/upper RPM) - 14psi - 93 Pump Gas

374whp/306wtq (add 8-10% for Dynojet numbers)

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj50/ComitatusRX7/LUKEWfcrx7.jpg

I ran a 12.0 @ 121 in the 1/4 mile in this car last year with a 2.0 60', when it was a bit heavier. It weighed in at 2,800lbs even.

That time was ran on 12psi of boost. I never ran it under high boost conditions, but you can use your imagination...

This car is capable of 500+whp.

Here is a clip of a 18psi (110 leaded only) pull on the dyno (watch the speedo):

If you end up keeping it and rebuilding, shoot me a pm. I'm in Morrow, less than 10 minutes from you. I know nothing about rotaries, but I'll bring a 6 pack and watch you work.... :)

That's a deal...

Looks like an amazing car. Good luck with the sale

Thanks! It definitely is...and I hope someone enjoys it as much as I did.

sorry to see it go man!

Me too...but my priorities have changed for now.

i would say keep it--unless you absolutely have to sell for financial reasons. did you plan on selling it before you cracked the front plate???

so many times people put ridiculous time and effort into a car, and hit "the straw that breaks the camel's back" and decide to sell. if its such an easy fix, just let the car sit for a while, cool your emotions down, and fix it in a few weeks.

9 years ago, when i decided to do a huge rebuild on my '87 GT in my sig (new shortblock, ported heads, cam, intake, suspension, tranny, clutch, etc, etc.), i spent every second of my free time that summer working on the car. went to fire it up and had no oil pressure. i was in absolute tears, ready to sell the car for next to nothing. i let it sit for a few weeks, and then got it up and running with very little work (new oil pump). it sits in my garage, and i can't imagine parting with it.

Yep, I think we all go through this eventually. Hell, multiple times even. I've learned the hard way to just sit on it awhile and come back to it later.

Yes, would have went up for sale even if it didn't crack the plate.

I would rather keep it, but as stated, priorities have changed for me and I no longer have the time/money/desire to move forward with it. So in short, Yes - need to sell.

It is a simple fix, but because of the need to sell, I wanted to offer the car a greatly reduced priced. I hope someone realizes the value of the car and the deal that I'm offering at this time.

If I did replace the plate to get it running again, the price will increase significantly.

I did this... this is how I got my Mustang, I didnt sell my Spec V for cheap, but I did grab the first v8 I found, because I was able to trade in my FUCKED UP spec v for full trade value... but now I wish would have looked around and lookined into other things... back then I could have got a roller RX7 and did the LS1 swap... I wish I would have done something like that or got a 03/04 cobra, cause now I am just another Mustang GT owner......

I say you keep it, and reconsider this thought in a few weeks.

Thanks! Yes, it's in very good shape! Everyone that sees it thinks it's much much newer than a 1989. It's been registered in Ohio since 1991, but I don't know what dealer it was shipped to in '89. I'm assuming it's an Ohio only car.

what a sweet little car

Yeah, it's "cute". :)
