Offtopic.. I was at Vances yesterday and some kid came in and was asking about all the guns used in video games. You could tell he played Call of Duty a little too much when he was asking to see every rifle type weapon used in the game lol

Anyway

I think that's cool and scary at the same time. I can't tell you how many people have a problem terming every rifle with an optic a, "sniper rifle". For us gun nuts its cool that the staff at Activision spent some time with people in the field and gave us the option in virtual land to pimp out an M4 with an ACOG and pistol grip, pimp out that M14, and gold plate that AK. Who knows, maybe someone playing will look up what an ACOG is on Wikipedia and end up a member of AR15.com?

On the other hand, it kinda scares me that after playing the majority of these types of games, you have the knowledge to operate a readily available assualt rifle. Think how many times the animation of reloading an AR is played? Hell, I think in one of the American Army games they show you the components and tear down of an M16A2? In this day and age with the powers of the internet and hands off parenting, that scares the shit out of me. This is just a personal thought and I don't claim to have any answers. I don't believe that obscuring fire arms from the younger generation is the answer.

I like Sweden's way of doing things: join a club, develope that you actually can shoot the rifle and understand basic saftey concepts, test out, be able to buy gun. If you mess up or are charged with a violent crime, they have the right to take them away.
