Sam1647545489
I got a stock stereo in the tbss and wanna hook up an amp to it to run a sub. I need to get that convertor so I can hook up the rca cables. Is it best to tap into the back of the head unit or is using a rear door speaker good enough to tap into. I wanna make sure it has decent sound.
HAOLE
I would to the tap at the speakers. You can run a shorter cable that way with less install time. Otherwise it does not really matter.
Sam1647545489
The key is to keep the adapter as close to the aftermarket amplifier as possible to avoid noise. So if you're locating your amp in the trunk, then you'll want to tap into the speaker level inputs at the back of the car. Cool thanks guys. street pilot
I was able to get my converter at radio shack years ago, I assume they still carry them. Not bad sound at all actually.
TimTaylor751647545500
I just threw one of these away that had been just sitting in my garage.

For a general install they are ok. I would rather not do them in a high end system. Now days the factory audio systems have become so complex sometimes it is the only way to go if you want to keep the factory integrated system. HAOLE
Wouldn't tapping into the stockers make them (or the sub) sound worse Not with a line level converter. That will take the regular line level and bring it down to RCA level. Most amps will have a built in x-over, so that will filter out the frequencies you don't want. 87GT
I say remove all stock parts and install all new speakers, new amp or 2, new subs in the truck. That is what I would do... But you could just tap into the back speakers if you wanna ^_^
