flounder Posted January 12, 2009 Report Share Posted January 12, 2009 Shoulder holsters are bad for CCW.. Mkay??They wont let you use one in the class and tell you not to for your carry as well. The problem is that when you draw your firearm, you end up sweaping absolutely everyone in front of you and most times to the side as well. DONT USE ONE FOR CCW.. IWB, MOB, Ankle, etc. The point is that you want a holster that gives you support for the firearm, concealability, quick draw ability without excessive time to remove, aim, and fire and without sweaping excess people with the muzzle,.IWB is best and safest IMO Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The reason is that it's easy to remove or put back when getting in and out of a car. Because of our slightly wierdo law requirements. If you have to get out of the car, and stand there removing stuff to get your rig off, you are actually in violation of displaying that firearm in public, and could be in trouble if somebody freaks and calls the cops. A couple of the guys bolted lock boxes on the floor to transfer to. I didn't think I'd like a paddle, but it feels ok and works well. I like the Fobus paddles for certain firearms. Paddles don't cost a whole lot, but a universal IWB is ok too. If a firearm can possibly fall out of a holster, it will sooner or later. A strap, snap, or other retention device is good.And yup, a firing line is not the place to be pointing firearms at somebody else. We were taught weak hand draw, as if we were wounded, but it's been dropped since it requires rolling your firearm across your belly to do the transfer. It kinda points everywhere, depending on who's doing it.(Part of the ReconRat test of a firearm, is to see if it will fire upside-down. Sometimes on cheap pistols, the slide will fall off on the first shot. It thinks you are dis-assembling it. FAIL.) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you have a concealed carrypermit, you may not transport a loaded, concealed handgun in a vehicleunless it is carried in one of the following ways:•The loaded handgun is in a holster secured on the person. Ohiolaw previously required carrying firearms in a holster in plainsight. The “plain sight” provision has been removed from thelaw.Motorcycles fall under the definition of motor vehicles.
