Hello everyone. Heres my whip...for now. I would say it is a work in progress but that is no longer true. I have a few suspension parts sitting in the garage I will put on this winter or in the early spring but I have drawn the line for now. I can't justify any further upgrades to this car and would rather put my money toward a new Stang or a Classic project I can hand over to my son when he is ready ( 6 years old atm ). I have a passion for turning wrenches and go fast goodies. I love to work on cars, it doesent matter if it's a Chevy, Datsun or anything in between. I am the type guy that would rather be laying on the cold garage floor in the winter busting his knuckles making sure everything is torqued to spec than doing just about anything else. I am mostly self taught on auto repairs and blah blah...no formal training... just grab the tools and get to work.

I tried to join here a few months back because I am always wondering where the people like me are in this town, but the site was declining any new members for the time being. Glad I finally made the cut and I look forward to learning from and socializing with all of you.

I am not a complete noob but this is really only my second semi build up of a car. My previous was a 93 Probe GT with Mazda KLZE swap.. most bolt ons, and a mild shot of juice. While I fare decent at putting them together I flat out suck at driving... lol..let the truth be known. Just lack of track visits I suppose and most of the time I cruise with my son at which point I have a strict speed limit policy so no light to light runs with my co pilot in the car. I must say though I have been really thirsty to hit the track up though ( never been with th Jetta ) and I see there is an event comming up...hmmmm.

I don't have any good pics ( because I am lazy ) but here are some snaps to show I am not completely full of ish.... just mostly.

I'm PRAYING that those pictures were before you did the springs unless you're looking to go off-roading in that thing!!

Not a fan of the headlights and the bass-mouth Probe, but all in all a good intro and nice Jetta. Welcome to the site

:D Nope springs arent on yet.. still sitting in the box in my garage. I am waiting on an order from ECS with my new strut bearings etc. Thats factory sport suspension also... does look a 4x4. Only thing holding me back from the drop was the fact the oil pan is cast aluminum and notorious for smashing to bits if it gets something chucked at it...but whatever... no reason to get scared now huh.

wow nice "whips" .... who said whips? i usually liek probes but holy catfish you going to scoup up some ducts or squirrels with that thing?

With just a 75 shot I pulled a couple 5.0's outa my Grille. :D

I don't have the Probe anymore btw. Sold it to some guy who drove down from Mich to buy it a few years back. He tried to turbo it and that made it a bone yard paper weight.

1. Good riddance to the ricer probe

2. Nice mods on the GTI, ever dyno it ?

Honestly it took me like one and a half years just to get this thing to run decent ( seriously bad misfires under load on numerous faulty OEM parts) so until as of late the only reason to go to the dyno would be to have an excuse to buy a bottle of Jimmy B after seeing the laughable fruits of my labor.

I just may do it soon though...just to see where I stand with this set up and how my A/F looks ( like to get another +2-5 timing with the WAI).

I'll get some better pics up this weekend. The car is dusty as hell right now and my crumbling driveway ( I had to buy an intercooler so cut me some slack ) isnt very picturesgue. My order from ECS should arrive today so maybe I'll slap the struts and springs on also... god it looks crazy high in those pics..geesh.

Nice VW. Get those springs on!!!!

Welcome to CR.

Thanks.

Doing the Struts / Springs / endlinks tomorrow. Gonna be raining all effin weekend so I'll be staked out in the garage.

I really didn't realize it looked so tall until I looked at the pics.

Might try to toss in the N2MB 2 step aslo. You wouldn't think a car with 4cyl and weighing in at 3460lbs would have traction problems.
