Mustang EEC differences?

I am about to convert my car over to mass air and I was looking at some stuff on granatelli.com there talking about EEC's and some are listed as convertible computers if I take a apl or a9p thats not listed as a convertible computer will this cause problems in my 88 GT convertible?

 

 

Im kinda confused on what the differences would be since the vert top switch is pretty much a 12v switch, what makes the vert comp special if anyhting?

any mass air computer from a foxbody will work fine
