I'm trying to find a way to get to the west bank of the river without a boat, without trespassing, and without leaving my car parked somewhere that will get it attention.

Anyone been there?

So tresspassing would be leaving your car in one of those close by parking lots?

There looks to be an apartment building to the south a little, maybe .5 mile down, that could work if you dont mind a walk.

Yes, as a matter of fact. :) i've seen people ticketed and towed for similar reasons.

I don't mind a walk, but it still seems like I'll need to cut through some yards or over corperate owned land to get there. I could just take a chance on the culdesac, I'm fairly sure it's just a road.

Culdesack worked. Looks like you could even drive past the guardrail on the utility road.

The park is not uninteresting, but not terribly spectacular. The ravine pictured above has no real exposed rock, save for a small pair of falls in some shale. It's mostly muddy, with larger round rocks littered around.

the bank of the river is defined by a 30-40ft bluff. I found signs that people camp there regularly, though they don't seem to build fires.

Dude as much as you like this stuff you really need to go with me sometime on one of my trips. I was just crawling around the Blackwater Falls area of West Virgina a couple weekends ago.

Been wanting to get back to hocking hills and probably the New River Gorge area asap. My wife likes to look around, but growing up in my house it was required that we be geology nerds:-)

Oh and I could take you to some places down on the Washington/Athens county line that haven't been touched by people other than my family for probably 100 years. Also look up the "Ladd Natural Bridge." My family owns the land its on.
