Haters all of you, and I hate the wheel on iPods, which is why my iPod doesn't have one. BTW, the keynote sucked today, and MacRumors coverage of it at Macrumorslive.com was hacked and those responsible post NWS pics and had funny comments posted inbetween updates. I missed it but spoke to some peeps that saw it and they said it was epic. They ended up just shuting the site down.

What's this bullshit I heard about the new laptops having a non-removable battery. Getting people to buy new iPods every few years because the battery dies is one thing, but doing that on an expensive computer sounds like a bad move on Apple's part.

I didn't catch that, I stuck with engadget. Thank goodness, last thing I need is my IT department sending me "warning" notices for NWS pictures.

We all know Macs aren't actually useful, they're just marketed to people that like shiny things.

Yes because they are radically different from every other PC.

My Mac can't do e-mail, I can't pay my bills on line, I can't watch porn or Youtube or Streetfire videos, I can't surf CR with it, I can't edit family pics with it, I can't FTP files back and forth to my server, I can't listen to sirius on it, I can't IM on it, I can't create or read Word, Excel, Powerpoint files on it, I can't sync my phone to it, I can't download my music, movies, and TV shows, I can't sync my calendar to my phone with it, it doesn't back all my stuff up to a hard drive on my router, Oh and it's not portable and able to be used with a 24" screen as a desktop when I want. And I have no use for my McAfee antivirus software anymore, I'm pissed I don't have to pay for that stuff anymore. I mean what could I possibly spend that money on now?

So yeah, it's just shinny.

No wait....

I think the Macbook Air is phenomenal and wish I had one for school and travel. However, the usual college-trend/Mac-obsession crowd is annoying. I think Mac has a good product, if a bit pricey, but it's the elitist Mac-lover in some people that is lame. You can find peaks in both PC and Mac products.

a bit pricey? I'll say damn expensive! But I am glad I made the purchase. My next thing is to get VMWare Fusion for this thing and run windows as a virtual machine on my mac if I wish to reminisce.

So, other than it being shiny and matching the other overpriced, shiny Mac products you own - what exactly is the upside?

If you are speaking of the Air, than it is much different than most notebooks. Usually, size and lightness don't mean much to me, but the fact that it's so mobile yet feels more solid and higher quality than most notebooks is a purchase-point in its own.

My outdated Tablet serves the same purpose, and I can flip the screen and write on it. I can also use it for tuning multiple cars. Comes in handy at tracks like Trails that say you're not allowed to have an open laptop in the car (even with a mount, been there).

So again I ask, what is the upside?

Can you even get a Mac to run any type of data logging software? Even using a Windows emulator (which is a fucking hilarious concept by itself)?
