HAOLE
If CLB gets it's light rail system, then the rail will run from downtown to Polaris on a line that is essentially parallel to 71. That will assuredly change the atmosphere in Polaris. That would not be good!!!!

A rail system in Columbus sounds retarded, everything is way too spread out and no one walks anywhere, with the exception of a small bit of down town. I would much rather see a new outerbelt 10-15 miles outside of 270.

I would much rather see a new outerbelt 10-15 miles outside of 270. I'd actually like to see both. I'm in favor of a rail system in Columbus. I see where you're coming from with the criticisms (e.g., urban sprawl, too few people walking), but I think that you can effectively alter that by implementing something like a rail system. (Enter here the cheesy "If you build it, they will come.") Add to that a casino complex downtown and you've fulfilled my wish list for this city for the next 20 years. lawnman
Where the fuck downtown is there room for something like that? The old city center building. It is conviently located close to the Main Jail , that way CPD would not have very far to transport the criminals.
copperhead
HAHA, perfect. Wait, are you talking about the City Center mall? Is that place empty now? I never go downtown so I have no idea.

Yep . It is empty and looks to be falling in on itself . Another great decision by our mayor.
Miller
I like polaris the way it is. We don't need a rail system transporting anyone that doesn't own a car to drive there themselves.
GonneVille
They should have arrested the little fuckers involved in the fight. Period. If I managed that place, I'd have asked the Sheriff's office to assign officers for crowd control. Well, actually, I'd have told AMC their lease was gone if they showed that movie, but I guess they probably don't have that written into the contract... I guarantee you, before the week is out, we WILL hear about people getting shot at theatres showing this movie.
Dr. Pomade
Where the fuck downtown is there room for something like that? Where isn't there room? There's so much surface space (read: useless parking lots) downtown you could build one just about anywhere. Someone mentioned the now defunct City Center mall - that would be - IMO - a great place for a casino.

Hot off the AP Man Shot Twice Inside Theater At Greensboro Mall By John Harvey Smith, Greensboro Telegram 17.JAN.09 GREENSBORO - According to the Greensboro Police Department, a man was shot two times inside the Four Seasons Mall movie theater during a sold out opening of the rap movie "Notorious" on Friday night. People at the scene said the whole theater was evacuated after the shooting. The Greensboro Police Department said the shooting took place at around 9:06pm at the Four Seasons movie theater at 2700 Vanstory Street in Greensboro. The multiplex is next to Four Seasons Mall, which is the largest shopping center in Greensboro. In statements made on Saturday, police said the victim in the shooting was Clive O’Connor, age 32, and that he was transported to the hospital after being shot twice in the abodomen. O'Connor was being treated at Moses Cone Hospital where he underwent surgery, said police. In police statements, the department said that O'Connor "got into an argument" with an unknown person, who evidently shot him and then escaped. Police have made no arrests in the case and have no suspects at this time. According to an on-scene report by WFMY-TV2 on Friday night, the theater was immediately evacuated and in 11pm news videos, the theater at Four Seasons Mall was seen surrounded by several police cars, while the parking lot was almost entirely cleared. On Friday night at the theater, the rap movie "Notorious" opened on several screens and according to various reader postings on area websites, some showings of the movie were sold out. As a result, said commenters, there were several hundred people there waiting to see the movie including some frustrated patrons who had to wait in the cold to get tickets. The movie "Notorious" is about the life of rapper "Biggie" Smalls or Notorious B.I.G., who was shot and killed in 1997 in Los Angeles. His murder remains unsolved. Lt. James Hinson of the Greensboro Police Department told the (Greensboro) News & Record newspaper in an article by Ryan Seals that he could not say if the theater shooting was related to the movie. However, evidently the Four Seasons theater management saw a connection, as the theater has informed the media that it has taken the unusual step of deciding to drop the film entirely from its lineup and that it will not be showing it in the future. In a strange twist, Ryan Seals of the News & Record also reported that Jamal Woolard, the actor who played Biggie Smalls in the "Notorious" movie, was actually at the Four Seasons theater in Greensboro during the shooting. Violence surrounding the "Notorious" movie was not limited to Greensboro. The Associated Press is reporting that four men were stabbed at a New York City nightclub where an after party was held for the film debut of "Notorious" on Friday night. I wish I would have known where those are at when I spent an hour driving around trying to find a parking spot when I needed to go to the courthouse.
