Sully
My g/f has a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant ES 4cyl that is throwing a P0401 code (EGR Flow Insufficient). It was briefly mentioned to me by someone at Advance Auto that I could try cleaning it before replacing it. How would I go about cleaning it? Is there anything else that I should look for that might be throwing this code? Thanks in advance!!
Guest Removed
ill have to look, but there has to be a sensor to read the flow of the egr...to be getting that code. it could be a flow issue, or the sensor is failing...
Dave1647545494
cleaning is easy take the valve off and spray some carb cleaner or brakekleen inside and use a little brush you can also try starting the car with the valve off and revving it briefly this can help remove stuck carbon deposits from the egr feed hth
Guest 614Streets
Car probably has carbon issues and needs cleaned.
Sully
Thanks for all the info guys. At this point, we're just trying to make it good enough to keep the CEL from coming on. She's going to be trading the car in on something new soon, so we just want the light off for when the stealership inspects it.
