LS_Sonoma
Can the honey comb material (air diffuser) on A LS6 CTS-v maf be removed and what are the downsides? Thanks
DTM Brian
The screen is there for a reason. Leave it in place.
Guest Removed
leave it there. it helps the meter read the air correctly
spankis
Can't remember the justification, but on Mitsu MAFs it hurts more than it helps.

AJ
its not going to help any. i took the one out of my vette (never had a problem untill the maf went out, seperate issue. now its SD tuned so it doesn't matter) i didn't notice any difference with it. on ashleys cts-v i left it in. Farkas
It reduces turbulence when the air passes the sensor that way the sensor gets an accurate reading.. in other words, don't remove it.
Billiumss
It reduces turbulence when the air passes the sensor that way the sensor gets an accurate reading.. in other words, don't remove it. It "straightens" the air going in it to it to make the reading more consistant. If you have a high HP car (450-500 RWHP) I'd say remove it because it will be restricting air. You can see this on your MAP reading at WOT.

What paramater would have to be tuned specifically for this change? Ive noticed that various models of MAF's (GM) either have or don't have the screen in question. I figured it was for the air flow in relation to the specific tube its located in varying by model of vehicle of course. Any thoughts?
