98 blazer die several times while sitting at idle

so the one thing i could say about the blazer is the engine would always run.... until tonight. so start it up, no problem, drive down the street to pick soemthing up, come back..it's about a mile round trip. I'm noticing "man this truck is running really good!" smooth acceleration, seems like all the power is there, doing pretty good... I pull in front of my house and stop getting ready to put it in reverse, DIES. I'm like WTF? put it in park, turn key, starts back up, back it up, put it in drive... DIES. I try to start it back up, it just cranks over, turn it back to off, crank it again, give it some gas, starts up... by this time, it smells RICH... like our clothes smell like we do when we drive the Z with no cats. Get it parked, turn it off... about an hour later, flip the ignition, starts right up, I drive it around the block and park it in the garage, no issues....

 

so any idea what could have caused it to stall?
