AudiOn19s Posted December 3, 2009 Report Share Posted December 3, 2009 Can sheilded RCA's be repaired? I've got a break in an RCA cable right at the 90 degree bend where it goes into the amp. It'd be really great if I could repair the existing cable rather than empty the car of everything and pull the interior to run another cable. I've got enough extra length that it would be easy to cut the existing cable prior to the break and hopefully repair it but I'm an idiot when it comes to audio equipment and looking for some insight on this topic. I've got standard issue crimpers, strippers, etc. Anything is better than what I'm dealing with right now. It'd take me over an hour just to unpack and pack the stuff in the car, let along how long it would take me to pull the interior up to run a new cable all the way to the front of the car. street pilot Posted December 4, 2009 Report Share Posted December 4, 2009 There's two twisted copper wires buried beneath all the insulation in RCA cables. Probably need to use a box knife to cut through the shielding. Put something under your work area so you don't slip and slice your carpet. The end product will look shitty but it should work.
