My EJ22 + Ej205 Hybrid.

After I chewed up the bearings in my 2.0 I started looking into possible rebuild options.

Rebuilding my 205 was already looking to cost close to a grand for a complete rering and all new bearings.

I started doing some research and found that other people where boosting the non turbo EJ22 motor and having great results.

By chance I had someone who really needed a VF39 and they purchased mine and through various swaps and trades I got a 18g now ;)

So heres my build so far.

EJ22 from a 91 Legacy 91K miles 200$

Overhaul kit http://www.rpmmachine.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=5384 266$

Cometic Head Gaskets 100$

Minor port Matching on heads

TGV Deletes

18g Turbo FREE Trade

My sad lonely engine bay.

The car is pretty close to being back together. I'm waiting for the HGs to get here and we

need to finish putting the pistons back in the block. I'm aiming to have it running next week.

Good luck having them shitty cometic's to seal right, even having the block and head decked to a mirror finish them damn gaskets leaked on me. My buddy is having the same issue with his build right now on his 240 and cometic he went through 3 gaskets. If you do a search there is more bad then good with them gaskets. Comectic requires the surface to be almost mirror for proper sealing.

So what your saying is that when your done and all tuned up you wana race me to see if you can beat me.Even though your 0-1 maybe this will get you to 500,lol. Good luck THORNE hope it works for you.

Me to. ;)

0-1 bull shit you jumped the gun... =) But I doubt my 18g will be able to flex enough even with E85 and kill mode to catch ur evo :(.

Doh, I did not realize that. I just seen people praising them for high boosted applications. Well I have the Aspestos ones also.

Yeah its either hit or miss it seem's, some people say to use copper gasket spray on them! But not something I would do. After I switched to an apexi gasket I never had another issue with that motor, still to this day its going strong. Good luck with it id make sure the machine shop checks all the surface's

With our motors, regardless of the brand of headgasket, it demands a mirror finish. That being said, as a 7m owner, I know what kind of machine shop to look for or already know one (like here in Ohio) that is capable.

Thats with any engine using a metal type gasket the surface should be much finer then OEM spec. I not talking about the finish of putting the gasket on rather more the shitty design of the cometic and the way they seal. Any high end company like hks, trust, apexi use a much better system for sealing the cly's.
