So I recently purchased 2 of these rows for my home theater.

A buddy is purchasing my old furniture and will be grabbing it shortly. Before I was using a couple loveseats and a couple chairs, and didn't need tiered seating. Now the rows are going to be directly in front of each other and I'll need a riser for the back row.

Now I don't need anything fancy, just a 7-9 inch riser, no steps or rope lighting needed. I don't have any wood tools, nor experience minus an old highschool wood shop class that I continually sucked ass in. I'll be doing the carpet myself, and since the whole room is being redone is theater carpet eventually, I just need the box built.

 

Online I've seen prebuilt risers that range from $300-$600 and come carpeted or painted. I would prefer to pay less, since I think that sounds like a ripoff. If you can do this (or know someone who can), hit me up. What sounds like a fair price (materials will be purchased and ready to go based off of a plan above)? The box I would want would likely be smaller too, since I think 72" deep is far bigger than what I want.

Thanks. How many hours do you suppose such a box would take to complete ?

Building one like the second link. I would say 2-3hrs building it plus how long it takes to stuff the F/G. Once you start getting everything cut it should fall together fast.

 

 

Also if you need any help with the surround/sub combos I build custom enclosures.

A T-line sub enclosure would be a sweet setup for a h/t

Does it need to be installed, or will you do that yourself?

 

Do you want it covered / painted? If so, in what?

 

Does material need to be picked up, or will it be delivered?

I can deliver materials, but I was hoping to have it assembled where it will sit. No covering required as it will have a sheet over it while I wait for the new carpet to be delivered and installed. Not sure of the exact physical dimensions yet, but I know 100"-105" from side to side and at least 8" tall. Won't know how deep I need it till the units show up and I can arrange them how they will be set up. Pretty sure 60" ought to be fine though.
