Was a long week end…

Quite disappointed I could not get a full pass but overall had a great time/ experience.

Did 3 runs total not worth much words:

- Saturday first pass, low boost test run.. Well, did not do a burn out and still was spinning up to end of 4th. Decided to stop it there and check my logs/ boost and overall car as it was my first time over 80mph since I had built the car. My luck, had laptop issues I could not figure out nor access my calibration/ logs. Finally found out Cody had the Motec software on his laptop and was nice to let me use it at will.

- Sunday was up early and motivated, back to the starting line. Tried 2 passes but on both cases my passenger lexan window flew off in 5th and had to abort the runs/ weird feeling… Nothing else I could try but leave my car as a donor to Tommy so he could go for the 250+.

Have lots of people to thank on my side since I was quite an amateur there...Was nice to hang out with everyone.

Cody, big thanks to your father and friend Bratt for assisting all week end helping any possible way. Hope I ll get a chance to return those favors sometime… was really glad for the Impressive performance your first time out..231mph run is very serious speed at the mile!

Justin, car runs awesome thanks for the great tune...Boost logic crew, guess as usual very modest and there when you need anything… Really appreciated all nice words/ support/ help and racing gloves! SW, thanks for letting me use the awesome sparco racing suit all week end and can’t wait to see you back representing.

Tommy really big balls again…good job, the car is on top of the game. Your last run trying to get the record was silly.. Car was spinning all the way to after the the 3/4mark where it got sideways hard in the 220mph range I would guess/ was far time to let off!!

John Reed, was nice to finally meet and thanks for coming calibrate my dashboard out of your busy week end. Could tell you were dedicated there with the lambos but good thing it paid off!!

Thanks also to all the nice words of Supraforums members and PM I received.

The event has been getting very popular for both bike and car series. Speeds are getting much higher every time and chasing the record way more expensive...

Look forward to the next event,

Autobahn car

Here is my recap of the long weekend at Texas Mile Mar10. I got there late thursday night and SW has saved me a spot next to him and helps me upload the car.

Friday, first pass of the day boost was at 30 psi and rev limiter at 9500 rpm. The car pulls hard up top but i would guess 235-240 mph as the was 10mph head wind. The time card shows 244.1 mph on the shake down pass is a good start for the day. The log show 29-30 psi of boost and 9430 rpm at the mile mark.

Second pass boost is up to 35psi and rev limiter to 9750 rpm. There is still 10mph head wind on the pass. We ramp the boost up more on the low end as the first pass hook really good. I launched the car softer as i didnt want to spin, the car bog and drop to 4500rpm when i got in 2nd. 2nd 3rd spun a little and started to hook on 4th, i grab 5th and the car just felt like a rocket and pull hard all the way to the end of the mile. i did hit the rev limiter before the mile so i know a got something close to 250. 247.7 mph is an awesome feeling as i just got my record back from SW:-).

Third pass on friday, i told Justin to up the boost to 37psi and rev limiter to 10000rpm. Justin confirmed back with me as i have to tell him 10000, 10000, 10000........5 times before he does that.....lol. I thought that if i am going to cross the mile at 10000rpm i going to need it. On this pass, everything is perfect until i miss 3th as the car hooks really good. Got back in 3rd and pulls all the way to the mile mark. 244.5mph with missing 3rd. Im still mad at myself for this till now. That would have been my 250 mph pass.

Saturday is a very busy day and very long line. I was trying to decide to run or not as i want to wait for better condition...tail wind... SW said that it wont get any better as there is still some head wind. So i decided to run, it took my 4hr waiting in line to make this pass. It was very hot and there is still some tail wind and cross wind. I did a long burn out as i know im going to need. The car hook on 1st so hard that miss my 2nd........i knew that i cant better my 247.7 mph so i aborted the run and save the car.

Sunday comes and i got in line at 9am. Its about 60 degree and it felt great, there is some tail wind so this is perfect condition for my 250 pass. I got a really good launch and went through every gears perfect until i heard a very loud noise under the car between the 3/4 and the 1 mile. First thought was thats it my motor is gone. Then i looked down and the car was still idling and there were no light on the dash. Passing the mile with no DS and got my 243mph.

Found out i broke my DS ( 1 piece driveshaft shop). Still dont know i did that. Thanks to my DS loop, i would have died without that loop at who know.... 250mph...

I didnt give up and still want to make an attempt on my 250. Stephane was nice enough to donor his DS so i can make this record pass. Luck wasnt on my side when i found out that when part of the DS broke, it came out and sliced my driver side rear tire. So now i need a DS and a set of wheels and tires to run. I called SW to borrow his set of wheels and tires that he lent to Cody for the weekend. The tail wind starts to pick up to 20-22 mph, and this motivate me to work hard to swap the DS and tires to run again. With the help of my cousin Rodd, Eric, Stephane and Cody we got the DS in the car at no time and line up 20 minutes before they shut down the track at 4.

The moment has come for me as the last opportunity to get my 250 as the UGR orange GTT and the Heffner FGT just hit there best 249.0, 249.7 250.1 with this awesome tail wind. The orange GTT got the best MPH at 250.1 so far and Ray FGT and I lined up for the last pass. I shook Rays hand and wish him the best as its up to us at the moment. On this final pass, I notice the tires are not hooking up like mine on 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th but im still in it drifting my way to the finish line. i had a bad feeeling about this so i only 70% throttle as i got in to 5th. Just as i expected the car got way out of shape at 2xxmph. i was able to straight it out without pulling the chute but i abort the run right after that.

As i have told many of you, this will be it for me. The car will be up for sale as the fastest Supra at the mile. Im going to finish up and move in to my house that im building now and should be done in jun10. Maybe i will get back in with another supra after we settle in our new house this jun. I hate to do this but i have to let this rare low mileage super clean 98 Quick Silver many record holder go after 3 years of owning and building it. I will have the car up FS with all the details and pictures of the car.

After this long weekend of racing, im still very exhausted. I would like to thank all the people that sponsor me for this event.

**Guy and Chris at HRE wheels, you guys made me a set of wheels in 2 wks and i got so many compliments how sick the wheels look on my car. HRE made a set of winning wheels at the mile. http://www.HREwheels.com

Im sure you will come back and take my record back:-) Justin tuningconcepts.com for all the tuning help, Zohair and the BL crew for helping me this whole weekend.

I want to thank Stephane for lending me his DS the last minute so i can make my last attempt for the record pass.
