I recently updated my HTC Hero to the 2.1 OS. My phone seems to be slower and takes longer to load messages and emails and the like. I have also noticed that more programs randomly start opening themselves and I have to use the task killer to kill them but 20 mins later they reappear. How do I fix this issue? Is there a way to maximize the usage out of the phone without killing the battery? What all does rooting the phone do? What steps do I need to follow to root the phone. I am not phone savy at all when it comes to updating and all that shit with phones. Any help is appreciated.

i updated my behold 2 and have had lots of problems with it like deleting text messages calls not going though when people call all kinda of things they need to fix this shit asap...

Updated my Hero as well, no problems what so ever. Try reseting to factory specs and try updating again. http://www.androidcentral.com will help as well.

If you are having problems after the update, most people are suggesting to try a factory reset after you update. Make sure everything is backed up so that you don't loose all yoru contacts and such. If you continue to have the problems after the update, contact your cell phone service provider.

Guess they haven't figured out how to root a post 2.1 updated phone yet. But I would try what mattvr4 said.
