I had Fowler Engines do the machine work. They were pretty good except the installed the pistons upside down. The valve reliefs are on the bottom on the modular engines. So i had to fix. They offered to fix them but I needed it done this weekend so I swapped them around before we put it together this weekend. You can see from the 2nd pic they were installed wrong.

Hopefully I can get it fired up this week and get it over to Brian's so he can tune it :)

Looks good but welcome to the waste your money land. I would never recommend building a 2v to anynody. What fuel system is backing that up.

Stock fuel system for now with a KB BAP. The 1.7L KB probably won't push it above 500 rwhp so it should be fine.

I like it, I dont see anything wrong with building a 2v. I would love to find a 03/04 shortblock to throw in mine and crank the boost up a little(keeping it budget). I would guess you might have to run a svt focus pump with the bap to get around the 500 number but I could be wrong. I dont recall my car on the 10psi pull but I thought for some reason I didnt have a lot left

Just ask 2V Eddie he has had major problems with his 2V. The bottom end sounds stout but the heads are just junk! All together looks good. I would say you are going to run out of fuel before 500rwhp especially on a stock Mustang GT pump. I'd go to a Ford GT Pump and be safe then sorry. Nice work though.

I agree the heads aren't the most efficient however I did opt for stage 3 heads as opposed to just running the stock heads. I'm using the Kenne Bell BAP which if their documentation and recommendation is correct will enable the stock pump to handle over 500. They actually include a good bit of flow tests with their documentation that compares the stock pump with their BAP to dual svt pumps and others. I will have to scan and post it up. Pretty interesting data. However we will find out soon enough :)

I don't think its going to make 500rwhp. I'm hoping for around 450 - 470ish. I got a good deal on the 1.7 KB, and mainly with this setup wanted to get into the 400 rwhp range and forge the bottom end so I have a good base once the 1.7 isn't cutting it anymore and I upgrade to one of the larger KB's.

Also, to some degree we are all in the "waste your money land" depending on how you look at it ;)

Granted my car made a bit more then what you are looking at I went return style with dual Ford GT pumps and a KB BAP with 80 SD injectors. I would have gone huge with your fuel system so you can throw e85 at it and make a ton more power threw that KB1.7.

shoulda got the trickflow heads man.

They are almost 2 twice the price for not all that much more flow than the Patriot Stage 3 if I recall correctly. I would have liked to get the TF but damn their expensive and im not sure they have alot available at this time.

thats why ya get port work done on them, since theyre a unique head and not a stock style head ported out like the patriot, they have plenty of room for more flow

but yea...the price is a bitch, i gave up on 2v stuff long ago lol

Well i got up early this morning and pulled the kb and intake off. Cleaned the intake ports and used a grinder to smooth out one of the heads. The patriot stage 3 heads had a few places where the surface wasn't level? weird. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I took the grinder to it and flattened it out. Bolted everything back up. Let it run for about 10 min. Oil pressure is awesome!

So I lowered it off the jack stands and pulled it out of the garage. Seemed to still have a leak where the radiator hose bolted up to the intake. So i got the allen wrench out and torqued it down some more. Seemed to stop it. There might be a very minimal leak not sure yet. While the car was in the garage for the winter pretty much all the power stearing fluid leaked out so the pump was screaming! Topped it off a couple of times and it was good to go. Put the hood on myself! Which if you have done this before, isn't much fun but I managed.

Then took it out for a spin. It was running ok. The 90 degree heat didn't help things. Either way it ran ok. So then this evening we went out to buckeye lake about 25 miles away and started the break in. Did a lot of 1500 - 3500k rpm pulls and let the engine do the breaking. It was leaving some blue smoke initially but after we got mostly there it stopped.

We ate dinner and headed home. It was then in the upper 70's and much cooler. It ran much better. Put about 50 miles on the new engine and its doing good. Few issues to work out. The home made catch can is leaking air so it sounds like its loosing air when you shut it off... will fix that this week. Also i put the KB in valet mode to keep it out of boost for the break in. Still whines pretty good but not boosting, yet!

Here are some videos for your enjoyment!

My issues were in the tune. It had too much timing for pump gas. I've swapped to external fuel pumps so I have this assembly that will supply all the fuel you'll need.

Let me know if your interested.
