Stampede
I have a leak around the one of the shrader valves threads. How do I stop the leak? Also, how much vacuum should be pulled for the AC system? Thanks. Edited July 13, 2010 by Stampede
STEVE-O
you can get a new shrader valve and put it in to solve the leak... also when vac the system it should be iirc at least 10 in 5 mintues... 15 in 15 minutes. You want to vac for at least a half hour so you boil all the moisture out of the system. It should hold at more than 20 for some time while you vac the system, if not you have a open or leak somewhere Edited July 13, 2010 by STEVE-O
Xyster101
Holy hell! There is some awful grammar on this thread. You need to replace the valve. A lot of those are crimp type connectors so you can't unhook them. Steve, you can't put in a new inner valve like on a car tire? As Steve said, you need to pull a vacuum for around 20 minutes and then leave the vacuum for about an hour to make sure all the moisture is out. The lower the air pressure, the easier water boils. Then with the vacuum still present, you can fill the system with refrigerant. You need a set of gauges to do this the proper way.
