Guest fist302
The car is a 1984 ford thunderbird 5.0. The car will start and run if i keep the ignition all the way on and turned, but the second i move the ignition back to the normal position it dies. Any ideas? Mensan
Bad ignition switch? Does it cough and sputter or just shut off really quick?

Guest fist302
I can actually run and drive the car fine if the key does not go to far back. The car stalls once the key goes back past a certain point.

Mensan
Yep. Replace your ignition cylinder. Also, stop using heavy keychains.

Guest fist302
Ok so when i put the steering column cover back together and started the car, the same problem came back. So when i took it apart again and re inspected what happened, the ignition switch had again become disconnected. I soon realized the switch was disconnecting extremely easily. It is very sensitive to any touch or bump, so when i try and put the steering column covers back on they bump into it and cause it to disconnect. I cannot prevent this. Here is a picture of what it looks like when it is partially disconnected. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv346/wpiner88/disconnected1.jpg You can see in the circled area where its disconnected. My question is, is there anyway i can glue or bond this in a way that will not damage the electronics? It works fine once its connected so if possible i would like to avoid getting a new part.
