BradyPPC
We had a customer drop off his newly supercharged 2005 F150. He recently installed an FRPP/Whipple supercharger kit with the supplied calibration. The owner is an airplane mechanic by trade and took a very sound approach to the installation and enjoyment to the vehicle. Even though he was running a known calibration that should have been fine for the truck, he waited to go wide open throttle until it was on the dyno and verified. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/F150/Mark%20Whipple%2005/201009011350061.jpg The supercharger made good power on the FRPP calibration but the FRPP/Whipple certainly has some flaws in it. Issue #1 is that they do not supply an injectors in the kit. Instead, they ramp the fuel pressure up to 70 psi on the factory injectors which takes the fuel pump duty cycle as well. At 5k rpm, the fuel pump duty cycle was 97% and left no room for any additional fueling to be added in an event like cat overtemp protection being enabled. The truck was also set to shift at 4900 rpm and had a 95 mph speed limiter still intact to prevent the truck from getting high enough in rpm to peg the pumps. Issue #2 is that the kit does not relocate the intake air temperature sensor into intake manifold. The issue with that is that if the intercooler pump were to fail and the iat's began to rise, the computer would never see it and compensate for the temp increase. After discussing the different options with the customer, the customer chose to add a set of 39 lb/hr injectors, a boost-a-pump, and a custom tune. We were able to drop the fuel pump duty cycle to 73% while having enough headroom for future upgrades and for overtemp protection if needed as well as bump the shift points and speed limiter up. Our custom tuning also provided a 20-25 lb/ft of torque increase across the entire rpm range and had a much smoother more progressive throttle feel to it while providing instant throttle response when you step on it. The truck is definitely a sleeper. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/F150/Mark%20Whipple%2005/396_421.jpg Video

BradyPPC
sweet truck. odd boost curve with a roots blower though. Its a twin screw. Curve looks normal for that boost level. Spinning the blower faster would flatten it out earlier.
