jerrodh
I just purchased a WD 1TB harddrive and I've found out it needs to be formatted in FAT32 so I can stream video files/music off of it onto my xbox 360. How do i go about doing this. I've tried the command prompt format fs/:fat32 k: and it goes through the prompts then just stalls out everytime at 0% even when left for four hours... Guest Spam
Right click my computer. Hit manage. This is from memory but i think its Storage. Find the WD drive. Right click and format. Should be an option for Fat32. Do a quick format.

unfunnyryan
It doesnt need to be fat32 to stream, only to connect by USB to play files.
jerrodh
Only options for that is exFAT and NTFS. I have windows Vista 64bit if that helps. And access to a windows 7 Laptop if that would help.

I assume your meaning the connection through windows media player via PC, yeah I'm trying to get around that. I wanted it to use just the xbox and the harddrive. mmrmnhrm
If you want to format a 100G drive to FAT32, you'll need to round up a copy of Win98SE, or use a *NIX to do it, using partition type 0C.

mmrmnhrm
Prett sure windows xp does fat32 also. Microsoft gimped it up by only allowing you to create FAT32 partitions of 32GB or smaller. It'll work with larger ones no problem, just won't let you make new ones.
