Science Abuse
Problem; friend has an engine block at "sweats". Seems like maybe an invisible hair line crack or porosity in the metal. Do the Seal-Up crack sealer products actually work? This is a crack that probably measured in Microns and not millimeters, very small. Skinner
have not seen them used on iron blocks but when I was at saturn the techs used a sealer on the I4s all the time.
AJ
GM engine sealant.
Science Abuse
was looking more for something that would go in the coolant and accumulate where the cracks are... ruining the thermostat and maybe some cheaper components, but saving the block. If the engine is out, couldn't you braze the cracks etc with copper etc and have a more permanent fix?

Science Abuse
Many thanks AJ! I'm finding some other stuff here: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1012242-bars-leaks-block-sealer.html Much more expensive... but it's making me wonder if I really need to dump $1800 on headgaskets for my Subaru. Patterson
Moroso also sells a few different products for that. It's an epoxy type sealant.
