pontiacfreak142
Alright, so i got all of my stuff back from the shop this past weekend. I now have a .030 350 block that has been hot tanked/cleaned up with new freeze plugs and cam bearings installed. The whole rotating assembly has also been balanced and is ready to go in as I get the money in the next week or 2 to pick up the main and rod bearings. Specs so far: eagle 383 crank 4340 forged rods speed pro hypereutectic 11.5:1 pistons also have piston rings and main studs built turbo 400 trans holley 750 cfm carb. i have a few other things laying around as well, but here are few pics of some of the crap http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/pontiacfreak142/DSC02094.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/pontiacfreak142/DSC02095.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/pontiacfreak142/DSC02096.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/pontiacfreak142/DSCF2195.jpg

pontiacfreak142
lol, first off, blow me. Yes and no, i had the 3.8 torn completely apart several times and put it back together and it still runs. My dad has built a few motors though. nurkvinny
is the your first? do i get to start taking bets on how long it runs at what power level? Put my first one together at 15, and is still running. If someone can't assemble a SBC after everything is machined and ready to go, they should hand in their carguy card. pontiacfreak142
oh ok lol. that im honestly not sure of. i know a buddy of mine took his block/heads into a guy and had the block checked out and some work to the heads as well as a stroker kit balanced and put in. i think he said that cost him around 5K with about 2500 of it being the stroker kit. pontiacfreak142
So i got a pleasant suprise the other day and found out im making a decent amount more at my second (motor funding) job, and im now shopping around for heads. Im looking at 2 sets but not sure which to go with. both sets have 2.02 intake and 1.60 exaust, but the first set is 190 runner and the other is 210. I was told to go with the first set because they were good 'street' heads, but this is no street motor. Which would you pick and why? This is a 1/4 mile drag car. pontiacfreak142
alright. What is the difference between the 2? Like power/ power band differences?
pontiacfreak142
and yes, it will be a 1/4 mile motor, well at least for a a couple passes when it becomes a 10 foot car cause the rear end explodes lol.
Mattsv8
a 210 runner on a afr is a big diff from a 210 runner on a patriot head so keep that in mind but a 195 runner will make good power to about 7000. and thats about all the piston speed a hyper piston can handle. a 210 would make better tq and rev up to arround 7500. but would require more comp usually and a big cam. if your goal is 400 hp and proably more tq id go with the 195s. if they are patriot heads then its up to you. 210s will loose low end with a little more tq in a higher range. im running afr 210s eleminator heads. i have a .626 roller and typically shift at 7300. but these are able to go arround 8000 if need be. look at your magazine builds for 383s usually the max effort ones arround 600 hp use a 210 or 220 runner. Mattsv8
do not buy the qfconversion blocks. ud need about 400 more to finish the carb. wich would be the same as buying a tuned new one with all billet parts
