buelliganx1
Anybody catch this show on Speed Saturday at 10PM. Pretty cool to see these "show cars" out getting wrung out. I was really surprised at what looked like a Shelby mustang GT500 or 350, not really sure which it was or if it was one my 2 year old was demanding I play cars with him. Anyways what surprised me about it was they showed it on the autocross course and while it was making a hard left turn the left front wheel came about a foot off of the ground. I'm not a chassis guy but it seems like that car could use a some sub frame connectors at the very least. Some really nice cars on that show, the one that really caught my attention was the 1400hp 3rd generation firebird that has gone over 250mph
Dr. Apex
Go to a local autocross and you'll see a couple mustangs doing that even equipped with subframe connectors, suspension and cages, it just the suspension flexing.
buelliganx1
I've seen the inside rear wheel of a car come up before but that's a first for the front one well at least on a car that didn't have hydraulics on it.

Ya I agree with Ben, mustangs and BMWs both will pull front tires on autocross courses.

bmwohio
I watched this show too, and these guys looked pretty terrible at autocrossing. When roid head (the host) was going nuts over a guy drifting all over the course, that is NOT the way to maneuver an autocross course, that just burns time(and tires) Seeing the back tire pick up is typically due to a stiff suspension and someone braking very hard and trying to turn at the same time. Here are a few shots of myself for example of front wheel pick up. This typically happens when the tires 'sets' in a groove and you are accelerating at the same time. First two are with stock suspension and 28mm sway bar set to medium (out of 3 settings) http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bmwohio/solo0133.jpg http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bmwohio/OVR%20PE4/solo0407.jpg Next two are with coilovers - sway bar at the same setting http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bmwohio/autocross/SCCAAuto-X6-25-111536-1-1-1.jpg http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bmwohio/autocross/Kale11-1.jpg This is Das Borgen with his sway bar set to full stiff (i think) http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bmwohio/OVR%20PE4/IMG_0717.jpg
greg1647545532
4 wheels bad, 3 wheels good. My big floppy sedan can't pick up the inside rear like hatches can, though. Makes me sad. And I always get a little jealous of BMW pics like above.
buelliganx1
Huh well I'll be damned, never seen that before. When I lived in Grove City I used to like to stop by Ackerman when they were running autocross in that big parking lot but I never noticed any front wheels coming up like that. Your right those guys definitely need some practice on the autocross course but it was nice to see them out putting all that horsepower to use instead of just sitting in a parking lot or an auditorium talking about how much power they make. Also helps prove my point when people start talking about huge power numbers and I ask them what the point is if you cant put it to the ground other than massive burnouts and tire carnage. All of those pics are from Ackerman, except the first one is at NTR.
