88lx5oh Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 14, 2011 installed a ventless heater.. 30k BTU with blower, and a 100lb tank sits outside the garage. first time installing one of these. wasnt to bad drilling through the wall was quick work with a Hilti and a 36" bit installed a shut off valve right below the heater. fired it up and it works great!. puts out tons of heat. heated the garage to 70 degrees in no time http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g425/hobglide/215271ad.jpg Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Such a great source of info as well as inspiration. After I get my infrared heater working in the garage I need to put a good couple hundred bucks into it to make it what I want. I scored two great looking cabinets this past Saturday down the street from me that I can hang in there and get rid of some of the clutter. I can't remember. Did you frame/stud insulate the garage or did you just put the blue foam all around it? If you did the foam, how did you finish it? with just drywall? 88lx5oh Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 14, 2011 last year i ended up just liquid nailing foam insulation board up. it worked well to keep heat in, but i jsut couldnt take the way it looked any more. i took it all down, framed with 2x2, nailed those to the cinderblock walls, i cut the foam i took down into sections to fit inbetween the studs. then dry walled the entire thing.. the ceiling got batted insulation. 88lx5oh Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 14, 2011 The thing that still sucks is besides how terrible the floor looks right now, that concrete slab is cold. So it may be 73 degrees in the garage but the floor is still probably 50 degrees. Im leaning towards the plastic/rubber tiles for the floor just for the bit of insulation it may provide. Which wont be much, but atleast you wont be standing directly on top of the concrete, and hopefully the tiles would a absorb some of the heat and become hotter than the slab Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

88lx5oh Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 14, 2011 22x20 i believe i wouldnt liquid nail the drywall over the foam. i had some of the foam not wanting to stick to the block, i couldnt imagine having the extra weight of the drywall on top trying to pull it down. you wont spend much more by doing 2x2 framing for as much liquid naills as you would need. i have a 22 caliper nail gun if you decide to frame it out.. makes putting up the framing a breeze i had all my walls framed and drywalled in 2 saturdays. as i framed one wall i was insulating and drywalling right behind it as for the bottom of the drywall, you can put up a rubber edging, its cheap and self adhesive Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
