OSUPITTSBURGH427
Alright guys, I drive a 94 Ram and the other day my gauge hit zero and the oil can light came on; I pulled over turned off the engine, checked the oil and it was fine. I get it home and go buy a new pump, swap it out, start the engine and the gauge reads no pressure. the valves aren't tapping so I assume it's getting oil. My question are: where is the sensor/switch and where can I hook up a mechanical gauge to check the oil pressure? Thanks for the help guys, Mike
Rocky31186
A new oil sending unit is like 20$, and it should be located on the front of the engine. (Been awhile since ive seen under the hood) Near the distributor.. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/oilsending.gif
OSUPITTSBURGH427
Thanks, is it safe to drive to go get the part?
Rocky31186
I would want to know for sure if your getting oil pressure.. Even if the motor isnt making noise you dont know how much pressure you have.. maybe its low enough to not read on the gauge and not make motor noise, but just barely oiling the inside of the engine..
