Has anyone here bought a DSS axle upgrade for a mazda rx7 TII fc?

Im having some fitment issues with The Driveshaft Shop axle upgrade for a TII rx7 fc. I have a few questions id like to ask someone that has bought a set and is currently running them.

Long story short The DSS says i have a one off turbo II axle. I done ton of research and their is only 1 turbo axle for 87-92.

Anyways if you are interested in the whole story you can see my thread over on norotors.com .....Thanks

I havn't bought those, but I have run thier axles on all by builds. Not sure how much power you are trying to make, but they have been great for me and have held up to 1800rwhp so far!

Call Frank and tell him what you want to do and he will make axles to support it!

Tell him Mark sent you :)

Im not a real happy camper with them right now. after my visit im convinced my problem is of no real concern to him. If so i would have had my stuff by now. Im not bashing but he has so much stuff going out the door that my problem means nothing to him.

They should probably make you a new one, and give you an extra one for free.
I dont want anything for free, just my axles. They are gonna remake them, What upsets me really is everything is right there in front of him.

This is what he uses when making turbo axles. Only thing different he is doing is the spline count. Do you see anything wrong?

His reply to this, and ive asked for a turbo print with no luck.

We also make a set of axles with a stub that goes into the diff, the axles are based on the same dimensions as the 19.6 axles and i have close friend that had them in his personal car (Enzo in LI im sure

you know of him) and they didn't have any length issues either (nor all the other how ever many of that kit we have sold) i should have told you the paperwork from Rockford was wrong in the way its listed but i know you will not believe me

i can email the head Engineer Sean Carlini to send you a email stating its marked wrong but i feel all you want to be is MAD, if the print is for a NA car and the splines are different as you know why are the same

26 splines like you have on it ?

from time to time in cars some parts are different, i have seen it with parts from Dana, Saganaw, Honda , Audi Vw, Chevy, Ford, chrysler, Mercedes but i have not seen it from Mazda (til now) We were a large axle rebuilder

on long island for many years doing up to 8000 axles a month with 40 employees i have seem more axle differences over the years that make no sense but then its a car, there may be a different casting or differential type that is not known

i have a good friend called Hasport, the make Swap mounts for Honda's after making the H series mounts for a very long time it was discovered a J-spec trans housing was 1" longer on the right side. this was discovered after litreally

1000's of kits were sold with an occasional problem. We had a shaft we sold for the 86-91 Supra and every now and them a shaft would be too long and for years i was a mystery untill we kept very strict records only to find that if the car

was a 86-88 car that was an auto and changed to a manual there was a problem, books said the diff was the same but after measuring them the 86-88 auto was 1" longer on the flange mount causing the shaft to be too long for the application.

things like this do exist. so in closing for the last email of the week end, what do you want me to do i said i will help already. please tell me what more i can do to help

A little more info to go along with the story above. His axle shafts are 19 5/8th long. My turbo axle is 19 1/8th

Ive done had some people on norotors measure a N/A (19 5/8th) and a turbo (19 1/8th)

sounds like you may have received a set of na axles (judging by size differance) maybe by mistake? you should tell him the size differance you have and how the na and turbo axles differ stock. maybe he has a set on the shelf you could try.

He swears that is the the turbo axle, its just a misprint on the blue print. I have already done tons of homework on the measurements of both style axles. I just cant seem to get it thru to him.

He dont even make a N/A axle only the turbo. I just really wish i could find a turbo car that has DSS axles and see if they had the same problem. They will fit but bind up in the straight position. He claims 87 1/2 sets was sold with no problems.

Here is some pics of the problem. If you lay the axles side by side this is what you get.

this end is good!

This end is not right!

This is what happens when you put them in. Like i said they fit but when you sit it on the ground they bind up. The axle is pushing the end dust cap out. so imagine how far that is sticking past the inner cv case.

i just read what you had linked up top, i should have read that first, my apologies. it does appear that he does have the na print though. i also saw that you sent your axles back to him, i hope he doesnt just put everything together with the parts that are too long and send them back. is this guy in ohio? might be better to take the car up to him so they can be fitted on the car and he can see that they dont fit properly. i would think there isnt much you can do but ask him to build you the "custom" axles that will properly work on your car.

Yeah he has my old axle that snapped and is making new ones to match. They are in salisbury NC

I just happen to be working here at the moment and stopped in. Im really just trying to figure out why mine are different as per DSS. Which im just about 100% i have regular turbo axles as per measurements and im pretty sure ive found a problem with his. he just refuses to admit it.

I could be wrong but nothing is adding up except he is making them like a N/A and cutting the 26 turbo spline in it.

Another thing to take into consideration is a N/A rear has a 7 inch ring gear compared to a turbo II rear has a 8 inch ring gear. In turn N/A case would be smaller making the axle just a tad longer. I sure would like to know who bought the 87 1/2 axles he has sold because ive have not found one person.

I obviously didn't read this well enough before I posted... Please do not tell him I sent you LOL...

Sorry about your issues, he has always been great for me to work with.

lol, Im good. Im not trying to bash him in anyway or become enemy's because he does make some nice stuff. My opinion though is if it was me and my customer was going through this, they would go to the front of the line to get taken care of asap. After my visit i realize im not at the top. I was just thrown back in line to wait it out.

They also have been sending the wrong boots out on top of all this. I just seen a thread on norotors yesterday where he ordered a 8.8 irs kit and got the boots i needed and i had the boots he needed...lol

UPDATE:

After many emails and trying to figure this axle bar upgrade problem. The dss has really stepped up because of all the problems. We had previously talked about me 100% making a race by the end of may. During the making of my new axles the machine broke. So long story short they sent these 1300.00 axles! WOW!!! :D
