GGEvo
Thought id share a little project - Over the past week or 2 Adam P and I have been working away at making a complete double pump solution with Hobbs switch to keep the stock regulator from being over run at idle. Original setup utilized 2 Walbro H.O pump, but were switched with standard pumps since i already had a Walbro in the car. On to the pics http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/2012091195191610.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/2012091995170245.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/2012091995172222.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/2012091995170253.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/IMG_20121015_201018.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/IMG_20121019_173621.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/IMG_20121019_173631.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/IMG_20121019_181613.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/IMG_20121019_182147.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/2012101995190049.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll154/ihockey123/2012101995190109.jpg
iwashmycar
I've never been one to know much on fuel pump volumes, ect, soo... Do they both run at the same time? Or does one kick in when necessary??
GGEvo
Hobbs switch has a boost reference in the engine bay so i can adjust when the second pump kicks on, in my case i have a 5-15 lbs adjustment. Also i should say im on the stock fuel pressure regulator, running both pumps would overrun the regulator, thats why we use a hobbs switch

Forrest Gump 9
I know this set up had worked well many times, but why don't you just go to one big one and be done? My question are these: -you need the second pump because the single one is not enough right? - what happen when one of the pumps die when you're on a WOT pull? GGEvo
One big pump like the Walbro 400 would overrun the regulator at idle, this way I can keep the stock regulator, and on my setup I really don't need the second pump so no worries about the second one failing. The single Walbro was more than sufficient at fueling my setup. This setup is almost identical to what buschur makes and runs along with hundreds of people that run his kit, so I'm not worried about a Walbro failing they're pretty reliable pumps. Having the second pump will come in handy next spring when I switch to corn

GGEvo
it does, 9 volts at idle and 12 out of idle. But thats where there is a grey area people say it overruns the stock regulator but im not sure if there is hard evidence. My thinking is that the 400 at 12v would prob overrun the regulator because the fuel pressures at just cruising with little load would be too high. For example with the hobbs switch set a 5lbs, easing up to 5lbs with very little load it easily overruns the reg because the pressure spike is so great. But if i give it the beans then its fine. Dont know if all that makes sense but i got a great deal on the double so thats the direction i went Here's the thread where they test the stock reg http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-engine-turbo-drivetrain/607313-tested-stock-fpr-capabilities.html
